Lathe 101: Learn to Turn
About
An introduction to the wood lathe: setup, safe operation, cutting technique and tool sharpening, the groundwork for turning furniture parts and handles. Tuesday to Thursday, 6–8 October, 7–10pm, at Makeville's Gowanus woodshop, 119 8th St, a short walk from 4 Av–9 St (F, G, R). $420 tuition plus a $75 materials and equipment fee. Turning is taught nowhere else on our calendar; Craftsman Ave in Sunset Park carves its bowls by hand instead.
