The things a calendar cannot tell you

A listing can tell you a pottery term costs $525. It cannot tell you that firing is billed separately by the cubic inch, that the tool kit is another $22, or that two studios in the same borough differ by $180 for the same eight weeks. These guides are the second half of that — read off each venue’s own site, dated at the top, and honest about what nobody publishes.

What we found out by asking

How these are put together

01

Primary sources only

Every price, age limit and booking rule is read from the studio or organisation’s own site. Not from another blog, and not from an aggregator that copied one.

02

Gaps stay visible

When a venue publishes no price — and a good number publish none — the guide says so rather than inventing a plausible figure. An honest blank beats a confident guess.

03

Dated, and re-checked

Each guide carries the month it was last verified. New York studios change their term prices between sessions, so treat an old date as a starting point.
