Oct26Compost Build Community Volunteer DaysMONDAYS · 9:30 AM · next Mon, Oct 26, 9:30 AMCompost Build Community Volunteer Days at Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing are Monday-morning sessions from 9:30 am to noon. Volunteers help with the weekly on-site compost build and learn how community food scraps become compost. The garden's events page lists Mondays from October 12 to December 21, 2026, and links to a Register here page; the page itself prints no minimum age, price or details of what is provided, so check the registration page. Our listing records the sessions as free. The garden's public opening hours on its visit page run Tuesday to Sunday, so a Monday session means working at the garden on a day it is not listed as open to visitors, though the page does not say so explicitly. Wear clothes and shoes you do not mind getting dirty. The garden is at 43-50 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11355. Take the 7 to Flushing–Main St and walk about ten minutes south. On the same events page, Queens Botanical Garden also runs a Sunday compost beautification morning (October 18, November 15 and December 20), where volunteers weed, mulch and plant at the compost demonstration site. On our calendar, it is one of three recurring Queens Botanical Garden volunteer listings, alongside the Wednesday farm days and Thursday horticulture days. Earth Matter NY also lists a Friday Volunteer Day for composting.Free
