Knitting 102: Chunky Sweater
About
A three-session course for confident beginners that walks you through knitting a whole chunky sweater, from body and sleeves to assembly; 4–7 balls of yarn, US 19 circular needles and a tapestry needle are bought separately. At Brooklyn Craft Company in Greenpoint (165 Greenpoint Ave, or its Annex at 37 Greenpoint Ave #105, shown when you book), near Greenpoint Av on the G. $125.00 for seven hours: Wednesday 2 December, 6:30–9:30pm, an optional check-in on Wednesday 9 December, 6–7pm, and Wednesday 16 December, 6:30–9:30pm. It is the longest of the three knitting courses on our calendar, and the only one that ends with a finished garment.

New to textiles?
Textile classes range from weaving on a frame or rigid-heddle loom to embroidery, knitting, crochet, natural dyeing, felting and sewing a first garment.
- Check whether the class is for complete beginners or assumes you can already cast on or thread a machine.
- Single sessions usually make something small: a wall hanging, a hoop, a dyed scarf.
- Bring reading glasses if you use them; most fibre work is close-up.
