Scratch Ceramics X Lesp: Screenprinting on Ceramics with Nathan Catlin
About
Scratch Ceramics x LESP: Screenprinting on Ceramics is a one-day workshop at the Lower East Side Printshop, based on West 37th Street in Manhattan's Garment District. Taught by Nathan Ng Catlin, a ceramicist and master printer who owns Scratch Ceramics in Ridgewood, Queens, it teaches the traditional screenprinting process. You make your own screens and print underglaze decals onto pre-fired bisque ceramics. Each student makes one 8 by 8 inch plate and one 6 by 6 inch tile, which are then clear glazed and kiln-fired after class, ready to collect about two weeks later. The Printshop's page prints the date as Sunday 8 November 2026, 10am to 4pm, so confirm the date when you book. It describes the class as beginner-friendly. The fee covers materials and 6 hours of studio time. The page does not state a minimum age or a capacity. Recent graduates (after May 2025) and current students get a 20 percent discount by emailing the Printshop with a student ID. The price is $200, including materials and 6 hours of studio time. The Printshop is at 306 West 37th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10018, near 34th St-Penn Station (A, C, E, 1, 2, 3) and Times Sq (N, Q, R, W, 7). For comparison, the Printshop's Intro to Screenprinting costs $425 and starts 19 October.
