Pay What You Wish Admission

About

Pay What You Wish admission is the last hour of the day at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum on the Upper East Side: from 5 to 6 pm every day, you choose what to pay. The museum is open 10 am to 6 pm daily, so this is the final hour before closing, and it suits a quick look at the design collection and exhibitions without paying the full ticket. The page does not say whether there is a cap on numbers in the hour. Regular prices as printed: adults $22, seniors 62 and over $16, visitors with disabilities $10, students with ID $10. Visitors aged 18 and under are free at any hour, and members are free anytime. A guest of a member pays $11 with no advance booking. The entrance is at 2 East 91st Street in Carnegie Hill. Take the 4, 5 or 6 to 86 St, or the 6 to 96 St; the Q to 96 St is a longer walk. For the accessible entrance, ask staff at the 2 East 91st Street entrance. Other discounted ways into New York museums on our calendar include Poster House, which is free on Fridays and the third Sunday of each month, and MoMA's UNIQLO Friday Nights, free for New York State residents with a reservation. Cooper Hewitt itself has ten upcoming listings, among them Family Gel-Plate Botanical Printing.
