Linocut Printmaking: All Levels
About
A two-evening relief-printing class: transfer an image to a linoleum block, carve it, and print in black and white and in color, with extras like printing on fabric, using a press and rainbow-roll inking. Beginners are welcome and experienced printmakers can push further; everyone leaves with prints and a reusable block. Mondays December 7 and 14, 6–9 pm, in IB Building room 1410 at North Seattle College, 9600 College Way N, about a 10-minute walk from Northgate Station (1 Line). $175.

New to printmaking?
Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.
- Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
- Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
- You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
