A hands-on orientation to the studio's Risograph printers (SF5130 and MF9450): changing color drums, settings, scanning, swapping consumables and basic troubleshooting, ending with ten copies of your own two-color design made from hand-drawn or collaged art. It's the prerequisite for booking Riso open-studio time. Saturday, November 14, 11 am–2 pm at Reclaim Clay Collective, 800 S Weller St #201, about five minutes from International District/Chinatown Station (1 Line). Sliding scale $80-$100-$120.

New to printmaking?

Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.

Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.

Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
