Turkish Mosaic Lamp Making
About
Turkish Mosaic Lamp Making is a 2.5-hour workshop at KraftStories' Midtown studio where you build a mosaic lamp from hand-cut stained glass tiles and beads, and take it home the same day. You choose a style: Standard Lamp at $99, Swan Lamp at $124 or Moon Lamp at $144. While you work, the instructor shares the history of the craft over traditional Turkish coffee. No experience is needed, all materials and tools are included, and the studio lists the class for ages 8 and up with an adult. Public sessions run from 5 to 30 people. The studio is at 325 W 38th St #706, New York, NY 10018 (Garment District), a short walk from 42 St-Port Authority (A, C, E) and Times Sq-42 St (1, 2, 3, N, Q, R, W, S, 7). It has elevator access to the workshop floor and is wheelchair accessible. KraftStories is the studio that publishes this site. Glass mosaic is a small niche on our calendar: besides KraftStories' Financial District studio, which runs a two-hour version, you will find mosaic work at Mosaic Art Studio and at UrbanGlass, which lists a One-Day Glass Mosaics class on November 15. This is the Midtown option, close to Port Authority and Times Square.
