Custom Rug Tufting
About
Custom Rug Tufting is a three-hour workshop at KraftStories' Financial District studio where you use a powered tufting gun to turn your own design into a finished piece. The page says you can make a rug, coasters or wall art, and you take the piece home the same day. No experience is needed and all materials and tools are provided. The studio lists it for ages 12 and up, gives a safety briefing before the tufting gun is used, and suggests wearing an apron because the work is messy. Public sessions hold up to 24 people, with about seven attendees on average. The price is $129 per person, shown as a discount from $149. In-person public bookings can be cancelled for a refund up to two days before the session. The studio is at 93 Pearl St, 4th floor, New York, NY 10004, near Wall St (2, 3), Bowling Green (4, 5) and Broad St (J, Z). It is stairs-only with no elevator; the Midtown studio is the step-free option. Tufting is a growing craft format, and our calendar lists five studios that run it: Craftsman Ave, Go Tufting NYC, Sense 7 Tufting and both KraftStories rooms. This is the Lower Manhattan option; the Midtown room runs the same class at the same $129 and, unlike this one, has an elevator.
