Drop-in Drawing

About

Drop-in Drawing is a free-form evening drawing session at MoMA, held in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden on the first floor. Artist Julien Ceccaldi created self-guided prompts, in English and Spanish, and seating and materials are provided. The museum says no experience, ability or reservation is required, and it is for all ages. If it rains or the heat is high, the session moves indoors to Gallery 400. It runs on Fridays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm as part of UNIQLO Friday Nights, when MoMA stays open late. The page lists sessions on August 7, 14, 21 and 28 as past and shows no upcoming dates, so check MoMA's calendar to confirm it is running before you travel. The page prints no separate price for the session. It says museum admission on Friday nights is free for all New York State residents; other visitors need a museum ticket, and the page does not give its price. MoMA is at 11 West 53rd Street in Midtown. Fifth Ave–53rd St (E/M) is a block away, and 47–50th Sts–Rockefeller Center (B/D/F/M) is two blocks. On the same calendar, MoMA's UNIQLO Friday Nights listing covers the late-night free admission, and Family Drop-in Mask Making is another walk-in activity at the museum.
