Photopolymer Letterpress // December

About

Photopolymer Letterpress is a three-evening workshop at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, run by the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in Manhattan's Garment District. John Andrews teaches you to use and care for the workshop's Vandercook No. 4 Proof Press. You make hand-drawn films, expose and process them into a printing plate, proof, mix inks, and print a small edition. Sessions are in person on Thursdays 3, 10 and 17 December 2026, from 6pm to 9pm, about nine hours of class time. The price includes materials and 9 hours of free studio time, which expires one month after the final class. The online processing fee is extra. The page states no level, minimum age or capacity. Cancel two weeks before the start for a 90 percent refund or full class credit. Pricing is $330 for members and $380 for non-members. The workshop is at 323 West 39th Street, New York, NY 10018, a few minutes from Port Authority (A, C, E) and 34th St-Penn Station (1, 2, 3). For comparison on this calendar, the Center for Book Arts lists Letterpress I: Basic Press Operation and Maintenance from 17 November at $550, and Image Making on Letterpress 2: CMYK Photopolymer Printing from 19 November at $565.
