Make Your Own Blown Glass Ornament (november)

About

Make Your Own Blown Glass Ornament (November) is a one-on-one glassblowing lesson at UrbanGlass in Downtown Brooklyn on Saturday, November 21, with the studio's session window running from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. A teaching artist guides you through a 30-minute lesson in which you choose from optical twists and bright swirling colours, pick a colour and form, and blow a glass ornament yourself. Safety, colour application and tools are all covered. No experience is required and the minimum age is 14. It is one registration per person, and the studio asks you to arrive a few minutes early because teachers may adjust the lesson for latecomers. The hot shop is loud and warm. Ornaments must cool overnight, so you return to collect yours once notified. Health and safety guidelines are emailed at registration. UrbanGlass does not print a price on the class page, so check the booking page for the current fee. UrbanGlass is at 647 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11217, in Downtown Brooklyn within a few blocks of Nevins St (2, 3, 4, 5), DeKalb Ave (B, Q, R) and Hoyt–Schermerhorn (A, C, G). The studio notes that classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date, so register early. It is the shortest and easiest hands-on glassblowing session on our calendar for UrbanGlass, a good fit for a holiday gift or a first taste of the hot shop before the two-day Glassblowing 101 on November 7 and 8.
