Park Pitch in
About
Park Pitch In is a free volunteer program on select weekends in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, run by the Prospect Park Alliance. Volunteers do hands-on park work such as tree care, removing invasive plants and clearing litter, with other projects added through the season. The Alliance's volunteer page lists supervised youth aged 9 to 13, teens and adults as participants, and says the 9 to 13 group is supervised without saying who provides that supervision. It prints no start times, meeting point, price or registration instructions for this program; it points to a Park Pitch In events page and a general Become a Volunteer link. Our listing records the series as Saturday mornings at 10am, starting September 5, and as free with registration required, so check the Alliance's volunteer portal for the next open weekend before you travel. Prospect Park is at 95 Prospect Park West in Park Slope. Nearby stations are Grand Army Plaza (2 and 3 trains), Prospect Park (B, Q and S) and 15th St–Prospect Park (F and G). If you want a different volunteer slot in the same park, the Sunset Volunteer Series is another recurring Prospect Park listing on this calendar, running since August 18. Park Pitch In suits families with children who are old enough for the supervised youth group, as well as teens and adults.
