The guide
How to do it: North Shore food trucks
The North Shore eats from trucks: açaí bowls after a morning swim, poke for lunch, Thai or tacos before the drive home. Most cluster in three places: Shark’s Cove, Haleʻiwa’s truck lots and the Kahuku lot.
Trucks move, change hours and close for good, so treat this as a starting point and check a truck’s page before you drive to it.
- The order to do it in
- Breakfast at Shark’s Cove, lunch in Haleʻiwa, and an afternoon stop in Kahuku on the way round to the windward side.
- When to go
- Most trucks open around 10–11 a.m. and close by sunset.
- Getting there
- A car. Parking at the truck lots is free but tight at lunch.
- What it costs
- About $12–20 a plate or bowl.
Worth knowing
- Bring cash for the smaller trucks.
- Shade is scarce; eat early.
