Ages 3–5. The Honolulu Museum of Art School's ʻOhana Parent and Child class is the one structured option — two-week sessions at $90, a grown-up in the room, starting roughly monthly (September 6, October 25, November 15, December 6). Beyond that it's the free stuff: keiki hula at Royal Hawaiian Center on Thursdays at 11:30 AM, and HoMA's Community & Family Sunday.
Ages 6–12. This is where the choice opens up. HoMA runs Ceramics, Fiber Arts and Exploring Art courses split into 6–8 and 9–12 bands, ten weeks on Saturdays or Sundays at $290–$318, plus three-day fall-break art camps in October ($110). Honolulu Theatre for Youth's season — eight productions from Anime Momotaro in September to The Malama Musical next spring — is $15–$30 a ticket and pitched squarely at this age. Teens get their own HoMA ceramics band (13–15).
Everyone at once. The night markets (Pearlridge Saturdays, Wai Kai Thursdays, the monthly ones) are the easiest family evening on the island: free entry, food trucks, room to run. HoMA's Community Sunday on the third Sunday is free for Hawaiʻi residents and built for families. And the daily 3 PM hula show at Ala Moana is twenty minutes long, free, and forgiving of a wandering toddler.

How we pick family listings
A listing lands on this page when the venue itself says it's for children or families — an age band on a class, “keiki” or “family” in the venue's own description, or programming (like HTY) whose whole purpose is young audiences. We don't tag adult events as family-friendly on a hunch. Prices are the ones printed; age bands are the venue's. If you're planning around weather, the rainy day guide is mostly indoor and mostly kid-proof, and the free things to do guide covers parks, trails and museum free days that aren't events.
