Naza

About

Naza is an investigative documentary directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, shown as a Hawaiʻi premiere at the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival (HIFF46). Filmed at night on Tel Aviv rooftops, it examines the systems behind Israel's bombing campaign in Gaza, drawing on testimony from 24 anonymous Israeli intelligence officers and soldiers about how targets were chosen and how civilian casualties were judged acceptable. The title refers to a military acronym for the number of civilians expected to die in a strike. HIFF notes the film world premiered at the Venice Film Festival and that its directors include two of the makers of No Other Land, which screened at HIFF in 2024. The film is from the United Kingdom, runs 80 minutes, and is in English and Hebrew with English subtitles. HIFF prints no rating; given the subject matter it is best suited to adults and mature teens. This showing is on October 24 at 12:30 PM at Consolidated Theatres Kahala, 4211 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu. The film page prints no price. HIFF's how-to page lists regular advance Kahala tickets at $17, $15 with senior, student or military ID, $14 for members and $20 for rush. HIFF's venue record notes that most screenings sit on a Kalanianaʻole or Waiʻalae bus route. Naza plays again on October 29 at 5:30 PM at Kahala. Later on October 24 the calendar lists The Table: Day and Night at 4:30 PM.
