Brahms Dances
About
Brahms Dances is the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra's third Brahms Festival concert on this calendar, at Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu, with Dane Lam conducting and violinist Ray Chen as soloist. Chen plays Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64. The orchestra also performs Brahms's Hungarian Dances Nos. 5 and 6 in the Parlow arrangement, Brahms's Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73, and a Pacific Brahms Commission by Shawn Conley, announced as a world premiere. The concert is on Thursday, March 11, 2027 at 7:30 PM, the only weeknight concert among the four festival dates listed here. A running time and age guidance are not printed on the concert listing, although the orchestra's website has an Attending with Children guide and a Parking and Directions page. The hall is at 777 Ward Avenue, Honolulu. Ticket prices are not printed on the orchestra's homepage, so use the Buy Tickets link at myhso.org for current seating and pricing. Brahms vs Wagner comes first on March 7, and Brahms and the Schumanns closes the festival on March 14.
