Stitch Circle

About

Small-group drop-in lessons where you bring whatever you are knitting or crocheting and get help from a teacher. Annelie leads circles Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 10:30am–12:30pm and again 1–3pm (her sessions work best if you arrive at the start); Morgan runs a Wednesday 5–7pm circle and Kiwi a Saturday 10:30am–12:30pm one, which skips October 31, November 7 and December 12, 19 and 26. Prices start at $18 per drop-in, or buy a five-class punch card for one teacher, at The Nifty Knitter, 317 NW Gilman Blvd in Issaquah, about 15 minutes' walk from Issaquah Transit Center (Sound Transit 554).

How it compares

  • Take it home the same day

At $18, this sits toward the low end of the 22 single-session textiles classes we list in Seattle. They run from $10 to $300, and the typical price is $60.

That works out to about $9 an hour for a 2-hour session.

If one session leaves you wanting more, 1 studio we list runs multi-week textiles courses, from $80.

New to textiles?

Textile classes range from weaving on a frame or rigid-heddle loom to embroidery, knitting, crochet, natural dyeing, felting and sewing a first garment.

  • Check whether the class is for complete beginners or assumes you can already cast on or thread a machine.
  • Single sessions usually make something small: a wall hanging, a hoop, a dyed scarf.
  • Bring reading glasses if you use them; most fibre work is close-up.

Taking it home: Usually the same day. Larger pieces may be finished at home with the yarn or thread you leave with.
