Botanical Print-making Holiday Card Workshop
About
Make your own holiday cards and gift tags by printing with fallen leaves, conifer needles and other plant textures, guided by Skagit County printmaker and educator Dillyn Adamo. The class runs 1–3pm Saturday in the Douglas Research Conservatory at the Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st St (Metro routes 65 and 75). It costs $45 with all supplies, with limited financial aid. Earlier, on 7 November, the center hosts a longer botanical linocut class.

New to printmaking?
Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.
- Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
- Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
- You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
