Knitting 102: Genus Tulipa
About
A next-step knitting class built around the Genus Tulipa cowl by designer Destiny Itano, for knitters who have the basics down. It meets three Tuesdays, November 3 and 17 and December 1, 6–7:30pm, at Seattle Yarn, 2701 California Ave SW in West Seattle (Metro routes 55 and 128). The fee is $110, supplies not included, with 10% off supplies for registered students; a waitlist is offered for full classes. It runs alongside the shop's Christmas Stocking class on the same Tuesday evenings.

New to textiles?
Textile classes range from weaving on a frame or rigid-heddle loom to embroidery, knitting, crochet, natural dyeing, felting and sewing a first garment.
- Check whether the class is for complete beginners or assumes you can already cast on or thread a machine.
- Single sessions usually make something small: a wall hanging, a hoop, a dyed scarf.
- Bring reading glasses if you use them; most fibre work is close-up.
Taking it home: Usually the same day. Larger pieces may be finished at home with the yarn or thread you leave with.
