Pocket Shrines
About
A beginner hand-sewing workshop where participants stitch small soft "pocket shrines" meant to hold a keepsake or a bit of comfort, picking up basic textile techniques along the way; this October session leans cozy and a little spooky, and you're welcome to bring tiny mementos to sew in. Sunday, October 25, 1–4 pm at Reclaim Clay Collective, 800 S Weller St #201, about five minutes from International District/Chinatown Station (1 Line). Sliding scale $35, $50 or $65, with materials and sewing supplies provided.

New to textiles?
Textile classes range from weaving on a frame or rigid-heddle loom to embroidery, knitting, crochet, natural dyeing, felting and sewing a first garment.
- Check whether the class is for complete beginners or assumes you can already cast on or thread a machine.
- Single sessions usually make something small: a wall hanging, a hoop, a dyed scarf.
- Bring reading glasses if you use them; most fibre work is close-up.
Taking it home: Usually the same day. Larger pieces may be finished at home with the yarn or thread you leave with.
