Ginny's Christmas Stocking
About
A four-session knitting class in which students work a Santa-charted, personalized Christmas stocking from a family pattern, picking up I-cord, duplicate stitch, chart reading and heel-and-gusset sock construction along the way; you should already be comfortable knitting in the round. Classes meet Tuesdays 6–7:30pm on November 3, 10 and 17 and December 1 (no class the week of Thanksgiving) at Seattle Yarn, 2701 California Ave SW in West Seattle, on Metro routes 55 and 128. The fee is $130, supplies not included, with 10% off supplies for registered students; the shop keeps a waitlist when classes fill. Seattle Yarn's Beginning Knitting Series and Knitting 102 also start November 3.

New to textiles?
Textile classes range from weaving on a frame or rigid-heddle loom to embroidery, knitting, crochet, natural dyeing, felting and sewing a first garment.
- Check whether the class is for complete beginners or assumes you can already cast on or thread a machine.
- Single sessions usually make something small: a wall hanging, a hoop, a dyed scarf.
- Bring reading glasses if you use them; most fibre work is close-up.
Taking it home: Usually the same day. Larger pieces may be finished at home with the yarn or thread you leave with.
