Art History Lecture Series: Jeffrey Gibson
About
An hour-long illustrated lecture on Jeffrey Gibson (Choctaw/Cherokee, b. 1972), whose work braids traditional Native American practices with abstraction and pop culture; it ties into An Indigenous Present, the survey Gibson co-curated that opens at the Frye this month. Thursday, November 12, 11:30 am–12:30 pm at the Frye Art Museum, 704 Terry Ave (First Hill Streetcar at Broadway & Terrace, or Metro 3/4 on James St). Single tickets are $20, $15 for members and $10 for students, sold in person on the day only by card; season passes are also available. The series returns December 10 with a talk on candlelight in Baroque painting.
