Natural Dye: Acorn & Oak Gall Natural Dye & Shibori
About
A natural-dye class on foraging and preparing dye from acorns and oak galls, then using basic shibori resist techniques to dye two natural-fibre fabrics; you take some dye home to keep experimenting. It runs Saturday 21 November, 1pm to 4pm, at the San Diego Craft Collective, 2590 Truxtun Rd, Studio 106, Liberty Station (MTS Route 28 runs along Rosecrans St by Liberty Station), for ages 14+. It costs $130, all materials included. The same day the studio also runs pine needle basketry and needle-felt classes.

New to textiles?
Textile classes range from weaving on a frame or rigid-heddle loom to embroidery, knitting, crochet, natural dyeing, felting and sewing a first garment.
- Check whether the class is for complete beginners or assumes you can already cast on or thread a machine.
- Single sessions usually make something small: a wall hanging, a hoop, a dyed scarf.
- Bring reading glasses if you use them; most fibre work is close-up.
Taking it home: Usually the same day. Larger pieces may be finished at home with the yarn or thread you leave with.
