①
Primary sources only
Every date, price and opening time is read from the organiser’s own website or its official booking page. Not from another blog, not from an aggregator, not from a review site. If Costa Mesa Ceramics says a beginner class costs a certain amount, that is the number here, and it links to the page that says so.
②
No automated feeds
Nothing on this site is scraped or pulled from a feed. Every listing is entered by a person reading the organiser’s page, and lands for review before it shows.
③
Gaps stay visible
Plenty of studios don’t publish a price until registration opens, and some volunteer groups only announce a week ahead. When that happens the listing says so instead of filling the hole with a number that looks plausible.
④
Photos come from the venue itself
A listing only ever shows imagery from the organiser it belongs to, or a plain illustrated tile. We don’t use stock photography and we don’t borrow one studio’s photo to decorate another studio’s class.
⑤
Dates are computed, not copied
Recurring things — a museum’s weekly night, a farmers market, a standing volunteer shift — are stored as a rule rather than a list of dates that quietly expires. The next occurrence is worked out in Pacific time when the page is shown.
⑥
Finished events stop being advertised
A one-off event that has happened keeps its URL, because people arrive from old links, but it is removed from every listing page and search engines are told not to index it.
⑦
No paid placement, ever
Nobody pays to be listed, ranked higher, or described more warmly. There are no affiliate links on event listings. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on this page before it appears anywhere else.
Who runs this, and the conflict of interest
WeekHere Irvine is run by Nurullah Gökdoğan, who also owns KraftStories Irvine, a craft studio at 2126 Spectrum, Irvine, CA 92618. That is a real conflict of interest and it is worth stating plainly rather than burying.
Here is how we handle it. KraftStories workshops appear on this site the same way every other studio’s do, at the same prices they cost on our own booking page, and they are labelled as ours. Competing studios — Costa Mesa Ceramics, Muddy’s Studio, Mud Hen Clay and Art, Olomana Studios, Soft Land Studio, Urban Workshop and the rest — are listed in full, including when they are cheaper than us. The whole reason this index is useful is that it is complete, and an index that quietly buried the competition would be worth nothing to you and, eventually, nothing to us.
