Stained Glass Workshop I
About
Make a copper-foil stained glass piece in a single Sunday, picking your pattern and glass colours from the class options and taking the finished work home. The class runs 10am–4pm at Discovery Center, 4318 N Elston Ave (Irving Park, Blue Line O'Hare branch). It costs $85 plus a required $85 materials fee; an earlier section meets on Sunday 15 November.

New to glass?
Glass classes split into fused glass (cutting and layering sheet glass that is melted in a kiln), stained glass (cut pieces joined with copper foil and solder) and hot glass (blowing or flameworking at a furnace or torch).
- Closed-toe shoes and natural-fibre clothing for hot-glass sessions; studios provide eye protection.
- Fused and stained glass suit a first visit. Glassblowing tasters are short and guided closely.
- Hot-glass classes are small and sell out first, especially before holidays.
Taking it home: Rarely on the day. Fused pieces go back in the kiln and blown glass cools overnight, so expect to collect it later or have it shipped.
