The options
Most Chicago team events fall into a few formats: games (golf simulators, bowling, axe throwing, mini golf), food and drink (cooking classes, winery and food tours), craft workshops (pottery, candles, mosaics, tufting), escape rooms, scavenger hunts across the Loop, and outings on the river and the lake. A few groups book volunteering days and improv or murder-mystery shows.
Prices are per person unless a card says otherwise. Games are the cheapest on this list, often under $30 a head; craft workshops and cooking classes run about $55–$100.

What suits whom

Making something side by side gets people talking without forcing it.
Craft, cooking
Escape rooms, axe throwing and game bars turn the energy into a scoreboard.
Escape rooms, games
Hunts and large venues run many small teams at once; few studios seat more than 40.
Hunts, venues
Pick a format with a personal project and no audience, and check it doesn’t revolve around drinks.
Craft, tastings without alcohol
Several operators bring the activity to your office, so nobody crosses town at 4 pm.
Comes to youMaybe skip it if the only slot is after 6 pm on a weekday, or a third of the team is remote and would get nothing: pick a daytime slot or a format with kits for remote people.
Prices
Starting price per person at the 21 locations that publish one; the typical start is $48. 1 of those prices come from a booking site rather than the operator’s own page.

Room fees, tax, gratuity and a “materials fee” can add 20–40% to a headline price. Ask for it in writing.
Thursday and Friday slots in December are usually gone by early November. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are easier.

River cruises, big game venues, food tours and scavenger hunts. Use the team size filter: it shows only places that print a group size at least that big.
Some can. Hunt organisers and several hosts run sessions at your office; use the “Comes to your office” filter or the “Comes to you / citywide” area.
Two to four weeks for most formats; December and summer cruise dates fill early, so book those four to eight weeks out.
We list operators that sell team or private group events in the Chicago area and publish enough to book. A person read each operator’s own page on 30 October 2026 and copied the price and group size as printed; where only a booking site showed a price, the listing says so.

How we checked
For each listing a person read the operator’s own site or booking page.
We copy the price the operator publishes, say when it came from a booking site, and never guess one.
No operator pays to be listed or to move up. Missing one? Email us a link to its own page.
