Making Marionettes
About
Over four sessions, carve and assemble a small wooden marionette, build its joints and control, string and balance it, then paint it; no woodcarving experience needed. 5, 6, 12 and 13 December, 11am to 2pm each day, at The Sticks, 350 N Ogden Ave, Suite 300 (Ashland on the Green/Pink Line). $360; the shop showed three places left.

New to woodworking?
Woodworking classes cover spoon and bowl carving, joinery, small furniture such as a stool or cutting board, and safe use of hand and power tools.
- Closed-toe shoes and no loose sleeves; the studio provides eye and ear protection.
- Carving classes are quiet and hand-tool only; shop classes use machines under supervision.
- Many shop classes require an intro or safety session before open-shop time.
Taking it home: Usually the same day; an oil finish may need a day to cure.
