It meets 10am to 1pm on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22, taught by Charlotte Briskin at Lillstreet Art Center, 4401 N Ravenswood Ave (Montrose Brown Line). How it compares
- Weekend
- Take it home the same day
At $245, this is the most expensive of the 6 single-session bookbinding classes we list in Chicago. They run from $75 to $245, and the typical price is $125.
That works out to about $82 an hour for a 3-hour session.

New to bookbinding?
A bookbinding class takes you from folded paper to a finished book — a stitched notebook, a journal or a hardcover — and teaches one or two binding structures along the way.
- Pamphlet and coptic stitch are common first projects; case binding takes longer.
- Quiet, precise work with a bone folder, awl and needle. Good for people who like detail.
- Most materials are included; some classes let you bring a cover fabric or paper you love.
Taking it home: The same day, sometimes pressed flat under weight for a night first.
