How it compares
- Weekend
- Take it home the same day
At $260, this is the most expensive of the 23 single-session printmaking classes we list in Chicago. They run from $125 to $260, and the typical price is $128.
That works out to about $87 an hour for a 3-hour session.

New to printmaking?
Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.
- Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
- Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
- You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
