Gourd Ornament Decorating with Abeni Pierson

About

Abeni Pierson covers how gourds are grown and used across cultures, then walks participants through preparing one and decorating it with decoupage, engraving and gold-leaf appliqué. Safety gear and instruction come with the engraving tools, and everyone leaves with a finished gourd ornament. It begins at noon Sunday at the DuSable, 740 E 56th Pl; tickets are $55.20. Pierson also teaches whisk broom weaving here on Oct 25.
