Wet Plate Workshop

About

A two-day hands-on introduction to wet-plate collodion, the 1850s process for making tintypes and ambrotypes, using large-format period cameras at and around the Photo Center, 50 Scott Street (N Judah to Duboce & Noe). Former photojournalist Allan Barnes teaches it on Saturday and Sunday, Nov 21–22, 10 am–4 pm, for $205. Students leave with three or four plates and should wear work clothes, since the chemistry stains. Weekend-long wet-plate workshops don't come up often, so it's worth booking early if you're interested.
