Lake Merritt Community Cleanup
About
Volunteers with the Lake Merritt Institute pull litter from the lake's shoreline and water using nets and grabbers, two mornings a week. Tuesdays and Saturdays, 10 am–noon, starting from the Lake Merritt Sail Boat House, 568 Bellevue Ave, Oakland, about a 15-minute walk from 19th St Oakland BART; free, but you must register in advance through the Institute's booking page. It is one of the most regular, drop-in-friendly volunteer shifts in the East Bay, and groups can book separate sessions.
