Winter Solstice at Mindego Hill
About
Docent naturalists Susan Dunn and Nancy Weintraub lead a 5-mile, strenuous but moderately paced hike to the stone circle on Mindego Hill, which doubles as a solar calendar, to watch shadows at noon on the solstice, then climb to a panoramic summit for a talk on how the land has been kept as wild habitat. It runs Monday, December 21, 11 AM–2 PM, from the Mindego Gateway Parking Area on Alpine Road (drive/park). Midpen doesn't publish a price on the listing. Coyote Hills' Winter Solstice Celebration in Fremont the same afternoon is also on our calendar.
