Free Public Telescope Viewing

About

Chabot's volunteer astronomers open the observatory deck and its historic telescopes, nicknamed Leah, Rachel and Nellie, to the public for free every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 pm, weather permitting. The center sits high in the Oakland hills at 10000 Skyline Blvd, Oakland; plan to drive and park. The scopes close in rain or high humidity, so check Chabot's online weather station and webcam before heading up the hill.
