Special Guest Gallery Chat: Exploring Behere / 1942 with Margaret Yee

About

Museum educator Margaret Yee leads a walkthrough of BeHere / 1942, the exhibition that uses augmented reality to enlarge and animate Dorothea Lange's and Russell Lee's photographs of the Japanese American incarceration, discussing media representation and the language used about that period and ending with a poetry exercise on Mitsuye Yamada's poem Evacuation. It runs Saturday, November 7, 1–2 PM, at the Oakland Museum of California, 1000 Oak Street, about a block from Lake Merritt BART. A museum admission ticket is required; the listing doesn't print the price. OMCA's Spotlight Sundays programme on November 15, also on our calendar, builds on the same exhibition with incarceration survivors and activists.
