Intro Mosaic Workshop
About
A beginner mosaic session where you learn to cut glass and tile with wheeled nippers and a glass scorer, then glue up your own piece on a coaster set, an 8-inch project or a project up to 12 inches, choosing from the studio's glass, ceramic and stone. Weekend sessions run Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 1pm at The Mosaic Workshop, 729 Airport Blvd, with dates posted through November 29. The price is $75 with all materials included; grouting is an optional extra, and you take the mosaic home the same day. Monday-evening sessions of the same workshop run from 6 to 9pm.

A mosaic class teaches you to cut or arrange tile, glass or ceramic pieces on a base, glue them down and grout the gaps — on a tray, a stepping stone, a mirror frame or a lamp.
- Beginner sessions use pre-cut pieces; longer courses teach cutting with nippers.
- Two to three hours is typical for a single piece.
- Grouting is the messy part, so wear clothes you can wash.
Taking it home: Often the same day, though a grouted piece may need a day to set before it is handled much.
