Outlet Within: DAC Artists in Residence Showcase
About
The Dougherty Arts Center's 2026 ceramic residents, Victoria Zhuk, Stefania Garcia, Minnie Rogers, Gargi Sharma and Nathan Anthony, show work made during their residency, from intuitively hand-built vessels and insect sculptures to pieces built around hospital objects. On view through 28 November at 1110 Barton Springs Rd, with listed hours of 10am to 10pm. The city listing does not publish an admission price; the residents give a free artist talk on 15 November.

How it compares
No other studio on our calendar in Austin runs pottery classes right now, so this is the place to go for one.
Not ready to commit to a course? 1 studio offers one-time pottery classes, a cheaper way to find out if you like it.
New to pottery?
Most first classes are either a wheel taster, where you learn to centre clay and pull up a cylinder, or hand-building, where you shape a mug, dish or planter with pinch, coil and slab techniques.
- Wear clothes that can get muddy and keep nails short; rings and bracelets come off before the wheel.
- Expect two to three hours for a single session. Clay, tools and firing are almost always in the price; glazing sometimes costs extra.
- A one-time class is the cheap way to find out whether you want a five- or six-week course, which is where the wheel actually starts to click.
Taking it home: Not on the day. Pieces dry, are fired, glazed and fired again, so studios usually hold them for two to four weeks.
