The options

What counts as team building in Honolulu?

Team events on Oʻahu lean outdoors and hands-on: volunteer days with land and ocean restoration groups, ranch and catamaran outings, cooking classes and food tours, escape rooms and games in town, and scavenger hunts through Waikīkī and Downtown. Craft workshops are rarer here than on the mainland.

Prices are per person unless a card says otherwise, and many operators only quote on request. Escape rooms are the cheapest on this list, about $30–$39 a head; cooking classes run $100–$150. Volunteer days are often free or ask for a donation or a fee; check each organiser’s terms.

How to book

How booking a team event works

Getting a real, all-in quote is the slow part. Start two to four weeks out.

Where the time goes · about 1.5 h

  • Briefing 10 min
  • The activity 1 h 10
  • Wrap-up 10 min
  1. Supplies laid out for a group110 min

    Count heads, set a budget

Headcount, a date range and a per-person budget. Ask who can’t do evenings or alcohol.

  2. Choosing between options215 min

    Pick a format

Quiet teams do better making or tasting something; competitive teams like rooms and games.

  3. A team at work31–2 days

    Get all-in quotes

Ask two or three operators for one price per person including room fees, tax and gratuity.

  4. Finished pieces from a team session42–4 weeks ahead

    Book and confirm

December fills first; for a fixed date in Q4, book four to eight weeks out.

Teams that won’t travel

Several operators bring the activity to your office, so nobody crosses town at 4 pm.

Comes to you

Maybe skip it if the only slot is after 6 pm on a weekday, or a third of the team is remote and would get nothing: pick a daytime slot or a format with kits for remote people.

Per person or per group

Boats, cooking schools and hunts often quote one price for the group. Divide by your headcount before you compare.

Room fees, tax, gratuity and a “materials fee” can add 20–40% to a headline price. Ask for it in writing.

Who runs them

Chains and independents

Mostly independent operators and nonprofits, from fishpond and farm groups to catamaran and ranch companies, with a few national hunt and escape-room brands.

Questions

Asked before booking

How much does team building cost per person in Honolulu?

The typical starting price on this list is $49 per person (the median of the prices operators publish), but many operators only quote on request. Escape rooms start around $30–$39; cooking classes run $100–$150.

Can we do a volunteer day?

Yes. About a dozen organisers on this list host corporate volunteer days, from fishpond and loʻi restoration to beach cleanups and reforestation. Most ask you to book weeks ahead; check each one’s terms for groups.

What works for a big retreat group?

Ranch and catamaran outings, volunteer days and hunts take the largest groups. Each listing page shows the group size the operator publishes.

Can they come to our hotel or office?

Some can: hunt organisers and a few hosts run sessions at your venue. They sit under “Comes to you / islandwide” in the area filter.

How far ahead should we book?

Three to four weeks for most formats; volunteer days and boats often need more, especially around holidays.

What if it rains?

Escape rooms, cooking classes, craft workshops and indoor games are your backup. Ask outdoor operators about their weather policy when you book.

How did you pick these?

We list every operator we found on Oʻahu that sells team or private group outings and publishes enough to book. A person read each operator’s own page on 25 October 2026 and copied the price as printed; where only a booking site showed a price, the listing says so.

Is WeekHere connected to any of these?

Yes, one: WeekHere is published by KraftStories, which runs craft workshops for teams. Its listings are marked “Our studio” and sorted like every other. No operator pays to be listed.
