Chainsaw Sharpening
About
Climbing arborist Grace Ditch teaches how to sharpen and tension a chainsaw chain using hand tools; bring gloves and eye protection. The class runs 10am–noon Sunday at Reuse Commons Lake City, 12558 Lake City Way NE (bus 522 from Roosevelt Station or route 61 from Northgate Station), at a reduced $10 tied to the Community Tool Chest fundraiser. That afternoon the same space hosts a class on using your own sewing machine.

How it compares
- Weekend
- Take it home the same day
No other studio on our calendar in Seattle runs jewelry classes right now, so this is the place to go for one.
New to jewelry?
Jewelry classes teach you to saw, file, solder and polish metal into a ring, pendant or earrings, or to work with beads, wire and chain.
- Ring-making is the classic first class; you often leave with a finished silver band.
- Tie back long hair and wear closed-toe shoes at the bench, since torches are involved.
- Silver and gold may be priced on top of the class fee; the listing says when.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, polished and ready to wear.
