New to printmaking?

Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.

  • Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
  • Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
  • You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.

Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
