Free First Thursday
About
Admission to the Seattle Art Museum is free for all visitors all day, 10am–8pm, and from 5pm the evening adds live music, drop-in art making in the galleries, a Build-a-Beast printmaking activity and a SAM Gallery artist talk. The museum is at 1300 First Ave downtown, a few minutes from Symphony Station on the 1 Line; tickets can be picked up online or on site. This follows the 5 November free day.

New to printmaking?
Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.
- Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
- Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
- You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
