Hillary Mushkin in the Artist Studio
About
Caltech artist and research professor Hillary Mushkin leads an outdoor cloud-drawing "draw-in" with pencils and vellum, offering quick tips for sketching fast-changing skies and a hands-on conversation about what is in a cloud, the atmospheric commons, and the Burke's and UW's links to nuclear histories through objects collected in the Marshall Islands. Wednesday, November 4, 10am–5pm at the Burke Museum, 4303 Memorial Way NE, near U District Station (1 Line). Included with admission (amount not listed) and free for members.

New to painting?
Painting and drawing classes run from relaxed one-night sessions that guide you to a finished canvas to multi-week courses in watercolour, oils, figure drawing or illustration.
- Guided one-night classes suit groups and first-timers; courses suit people who want to improve.
- Figure-drawing sessions use a live model and are usually for adults only.
- Materials are usually included in one-off classes; courses often send a supply list.
Taking it home: The same day, though acrylic and oil may need a few hours to dry before they travel well.
