Janine Gibbons in the Artist Studio

About

Haida artist Janine Gibbons works in the Burke's Artist Studio on the design of a Northwest Coast totem pole drawn from studies of objects in the museum's collections, demonstrating formline design alongside a master Haida carver. Visitors can follow the sketches and works in progress, ask about formline, crest imagery and a related flood story, and see original art from her illustrated book We Are Who We Are. Saturday, October 24, 10am–5pm at the Burke, 4303 Memorial Way NE on the UW campus, a walk from U District Station (1 Line); it is included with museum admission (amount not given on the listing) and free for members.
