Arboretum Lichens
About
Lichenologist Katherine Glew, Ph.D., of the UW Herbarium at the Burke Museum leads a two-hour class on lichens — the partnership of a fungus and an alga — covering the common species of urban Seattle and what they reveal about air quality and geology, with a take-home chart of lichens in your own neighborhood. Saturday, October 31, 10 am–12 pm at Washington Park Arboretum, 2300 Arboretum Dr E, served by King County Metro routes 43 and 48. $45 with pre-registration; a limited number of financial-aid spots are available. A second session is set for November 22.
