Culture Class: Hans Christian Andersen's Gothic Tales

About

Melissa Lucas, director of the Scandinavian Language Institute, walks through two of Hans Christian Andersen's darker tales, setting them against the culture of his day, his personal struggles and his ideas about the artist's place in society; handouts are provided. The class is Thursday, October 29 from 6:30 to 8 pm at the National Nordic Museum, 2655 NW Market St in Ballard, near the RapidRide D Line. It costs $40, or $35 for members. Another culture class, on Nordic metal, follows on October 31.
