Create a Custom Paper Lantern

About

Victoria Marquez shows adults how to make specialty papers with transparent watercolor and watercolor pencils and apply them to a lantern so it glows when lit; no experience is necessary. The two-day class runs December 4 and 5, 10am to 3pm, at the Fallbrook School of the Arts, 310 E Alvarado St, Fallbrook. It costs $175.00 plus a $4.38 ticket fee, with a separate $15 supply fee paid to the instructor. Ron Pokrasso's monotype intensive also starts at the school on December 4.

New to painting?

Painting and drawing classes run from relaxed one-night sessions that guide you to a finished canvas to multi-week courses in watercolour, oils, figure drawing or illustration.

  • Guided one-night classes suit groups and first-timers; courses suit people who want to improve.
  • Figure-drawing sessions use a live model and are usually for adults only.
  • Materials are usually included in one-off classes; courses often send a supply list.

Taking it home: The same day, though acrylic and oil may need a few hours to dry before they travel well.
