Holiday Block Print Ornaments
About
Over two sessions with Helen Shafer Garcia, students design and carve repeat-pattern stamps from air-dry paper clay, print with them, and then paint the dried pieces in acrylic to make ornaments and gifts. Sessions start at 10am on Monday, November 16 and Thursday, November 19 at the Fallbrook School of the Arts, 310 E Alvarado St, Fallbrook; it is open to all levels, ages 18 and up. The fee is $135.00 plus a $3.38 ticket fee, with a $15 materials fee paid to the instructor in class.

New to printmaking?
Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.
- Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
- Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
- You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
