You Are Invited: Printmaking Workshop with Isa Ybarra
About
A hands-on session tied to the exhibition Visiones Nocturnas in which participants carve linoleum blocks, combine them with stamps and print a flyer-style invitation to an imagined night out; San Diego printmaker and painter Isa Ybarra leads and no experience is needed. It runs Saturday 14 November, 11am to 1pm, in the Prebys Learning Center at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, 700 Prospect St, La Jolla (MTS Route 30). It costs $20 for members, students and older adults and $30 for non-members. Families can try monoprinting for free at the museum's Play Day on 8 November.

New to printmaking?
Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.
- Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
- Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
- You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
